So we were going to wait to tell you guys about the newest toy till you got here (for those of you coming out to visit), but we took it out last weekend and found a new place to ride and we had so many cool pictures we wanted to share with you guys we thought we would go ahead and tell you about it. Instead of getting another quad for Brittany to ride we got a side by side UTV. It allows us to ride together and is a lot more fun than following each other with separate quads.
The new place we found to go riding is a little further than Jim Creek, where we have been a few times before, but still only about an hour away. It is a place in this tiny town of Sutton. There is a big open area where everyone parks and camps and then a trail that goes out for miles. You can ride out to the lake that is out there or out to a glacier (we have not been to that yet). So here are the pictures from our trip last weekend. This is a picture of the big open area where everyone parks/camps. Our truck is the small dot in the center.
Moose loves her Mom!!!!
The past few pictures are from when we stopped after our first ride. We brought out our new grill and grilled a steak and made dinner out there. It was so fun!! It has been so long since we have had any grilled food and the steak turned out awesome.
Yep it still does donuts! It may look like a golf cart, but it is far from it!
It also has 12 inches of clearance and four wheel drive, perfect for the random water holes out on the trail.
Practicing for hundred dollar hill!!
What do you get when you have a mud hole and a clean Prowler?? A stuck Prowler. Good thing we got the wench. I though it might get stuck, but why not try it anyway. This brought me back to the cabin trip where Ben just had to take the 4X4 quad through the mud hole nice and slow eventually getting it stuck just so he could try out the wench. For some reason I always look back at the things I do and think to myself, Ben would have done that. It must be the chicken legs! We have a lot in common.
This is a picture at the end of the ride for that weekend. We got a little mud splashed everywhere.
On the drive home we stopped at this place to take pictures. We don't know what river it is, but it is amazing the way it is completely broken up and winds its way through the riverbed.
It was also Summer Solstice that night. The Summer Solstice is when the Earth is tilted the furthest toward the sun, resulting in the most amount of sunlight. This picture was taken at 12:30 in the morning. As you can see there is still plenty of light to see everything. After last Saturday, we are now loosing sunlight everyday. Eventually it will reach its minimum of only about four hours of day light.

Looks like you guys are exploring Alaska through quad riding!! Looks like fun! Moosey girl does look like she loves her mama!! Cute Britt! Eventhough Alaska is beautiful I don't think I could handle only 4 hours of daylight! That last picture is crazy! Love you guys. Miss you!
Oh your new toy looks like fun also!!
HA HA HA HA HA Yes I do sense many similarities btwn. Josh & Ben. That was hilarious. Can't wait to show Ben. Never a dull moment when people like you guys are around. I want to live in Alaska this time of year! No snow on the ground, but definitely not hot, green green and more green, running rivers, tons of daylight - amazing. That picture was so cool at 12:30am - glad you took that so we could see what its like. I always wondered. That new toy looks like TONS of fun. Brittany - you should be a photographer....you don't have to do much to make your pictures look pro with backgrounds like that. I love it. Awesome shots! Looks like sooooo much fun. We so wish we were coming there in a couple weeks. We were talking about it last night and said how cool it would be if we could afford it - maybe someday. I'm really glad you guys are having so much fun and living it up in Alaska. WE miss you
I know where that is!! I've so been there!! Hehe That river is the Knik...same one at Jim Creek...BTW!
