Arctic Thunder Air Show

Josh and I spent one of our Saturday's, a few weekends ago, at the Air Show on Elmendorf Air Force Base here in AK. Its been a while but had to share this awesome experience I had and share with you the fun pictures we took. This was my first air show and I had a blast! There was definitely a BIG perk for being military and we didn't have to wait in the hour and a half line with everyone else just to get on post for the show!!! It was very nice to be able to drive right on by taking the "secret way."

F-22. This is the brand new fighter for the Air Force. The latest and greatest F-22. Its pretty cool to see it in person, pretty impressive. Same thing in the air as what we are standing next to in the bottom pictures.

C-17. These are pictures of the plane that Josh does his airborne jumps out of, most of the time. Aren't they huge?? I couldn't wait to go inside! This is the door that he jumps out of!

This is where Josh sat for his last 2 jumps he had!!! How cool is that! I was so excited and had to sit in it. When do you ever get to do this kind of thing?! I have always just seen the outside of the plane but to be in there and really experience it and really get the full picture of what his jumps are like. He was explaining everything to me, probably because I was asking so many questions. But i couldn't help myself, I really was so excited!!!!

C-17. Under the wing of the airplane. They are all HUGE!

KC-10. This plane is used for cargo and refueling. Pictured is the boom used to refuel fighters. I got to go down into the "boom operators" spot! Its essentially the underside of the plane, its where the Air Force guy lays and directs the boom to connect it to the fighters and refuel. It was amazing to see how they control this huge thing to refuel planes while flying in the air.

Kc-10. The next three pictures are of the same plane, with me standing underneath it and the bottom one taken inside the plane.

KC-135. Josh's dad flew this kind of plane when we was in the Air National Guard. Pretty cool.

Marine version of a C-130.

The C-5 Galaxy. This is the largest cargo plane the Air Force has. I has two levels, one for cargo and one for passengers.

Lastly was the air show with Arctic Thunder. They pulled some pretty cool tricks that actually scared me a few times I really thought they were going to crash into each other playing "chicken." (As you can see in the pictures above) They were interesting to watch and to see what they can do with those planes and jets. I have never been to something like this before and felt like all the other little kids with their parents asking Josh about everything and wanting to take pictures of everything and of me with the planes. There were times when we had to wait for the little kids to move so that I could get my picture taken! Josh was a good sport with everything and we both really enjoyed ourselves!!! If any of you get the chance to go to one and have never been I definitely recommend it.

(I wish Scott could of been here to see this. I thought of him the whole time and know he would of had a blast seeing all the planes and jets and getting to go inside all of them)

I am very impressed! Do you really remember the names of all of those planes or did Josh help you remember? It sounds like you have definitely learned a lot! You will have to educate me sometime.

Brittany & Josh,
Oh my goodness. I was just checking your blog again and decided to be nosey and read your comments and realized that my comment I left the day you posted this never posted. I have no idea what happened. I probably typed the 'secret' word wrong and didn't even realize. I promise I have looked at your blog so many times since you posted this waiting for another update and you probably think I forgot about you.
So sorry, BUT I LOVED this post. I am amazed at how big those planes are and I would so be you Brittany - totally interested and asking all kinds of questions. And I would totally want to sit in the same seat Josh sat in and try to picture the whole thing. It's crazy that he jumps out of planes. I have heard that those air shows are awesome and I'm glad you guys got to go. I love how much fun you guys are always having. Seriously live it up. Its awesome and I am so happy for both of you. I am so sad that I can't be there to have fun with you guys next week - tear :0( I miss you guys - love ya
